Medication (Induction and Administration)
This course addresses the key issues that a care worker should be aware of when dealing with medication.
The training will include an introduction to legislations governing the administration of medicine and will include the following key topics:
- the classification of medication
- types of medication
- how to deal with medication when working with other professionals
- maintaining medication records
- the collection, storage and disposal of medication
- principles of safe handling of medication
- how to support an individual who prefers to self-medicate
- how to properly administer medication
- reporting mistakes and errors
- identifying and reporting changes about the service user
The course will also use case studies to help trainees put medication issues into a realistic care setting.
